How does the process work at LNGS?
Coaches: Coaches
submit applications by mid March to the division representatives.
The LNGS board
of directors vote on an all star coach or coaches or
coaching teams
for each age group by May 1st (8U,10U,12U,14U,16B).
Teams:
The division representatives, coaches and board of directors
decide
on the number of
teams in each age group depending on number of strong
players in each age
group.
This year (2007) there are 8 teams planned:
8U:Gold
10U:Gold, Silver 12U Gold, Silver,
Bronze 14U Gold
In addition, the BOD also selects which
tournaments that LNGS teams will participate in the
All Star Season.
Players:
1. All star players are
preliminarily nominated by their recreational coaches
(1-4 per
team) and will be selected after a tryout not before May 1st.
2. Recreational coaches confirm
the nomination by discussions with the nominees
parents
to confirm the parent/and players ability to make the time
commitment
to the
all star season.
3. Division Reps confirm the
nominations and meet with the coaches to finalize
the
nominees list.
3. Players are only eligible in
their age appropriate division, regardless of their
division
of participation in the recreational season.
4. All coaches in each division rate
each all-star candidate in their age group.
5. All Star Tryouts are held by
select invitation only
(players will be notified by the league in writing)
6. All Star Coaches; select the Gold, Silver
and Bronze teams in order and notify the players
Player
selection is at the full discretion of the all star coaches and is
based on the
recreational coaches votes, all star tryouts, and the coaches
observations and
familiarity with the players in their division. The BOD finalizes
the team roster.
Teams are selected to represent
Laguna Niguel Girls Softball League in inter-league, district and
regional tournaments. Laguna Niguel hosts a tournament each year
called: SEA COUNTRY CLASSIC
